Driving School Excellence: Highlights from the Maple Bear Asia Education Conference 2024 in Macao
From November 8 to 10, 2024, Maple Bear educators and leaders gathered in Macao for the Maple Bear Asia Education Conference, centred on the theme of “Driving School Excellence.”
Co-hosted by Maple Bear Hong Kong and Maple Bear Global Schools, this event provided an invaluable opportunity for academic professionals from across the Maple Bear network to deepen their skills, connect with peers, and explore strategies to cultivate excellence in education.
The conference was kicked off by a keynote address from Patricia Koh, founder of Maple Bear Singapore and a pioneering voice in early childhood education in Asia. Koh shared insights from her extensive career, emphasizing the importance of creating learning environments that foster students’ curiosity, resilience, and readiness to face future challenges. Her address set an inspiring tone for a weekend filled with learning and collaboration.
Across the three days, attendees participated in workshops on various topics, including numeracy and literacy development, led by Maple Bear Global Schools Academic Directors, Justine O’Grady and Tammy-Lynne Peel. These sessions focused on practical approaches to enhancing foundational skills, ensuring that Maple Bear schools remain a place where students not only excel academically but also grow socially and emotionally.
The event also provided a platform for regional Maple Bear teams to share their best practices. This peer-to-peer exchange of ideas allowed participants to gain insights from diverse educational contexts and fostered a sense of shared purpose and community.
In keeping with Maple Bear’s commitment to continuous improvement, the conference concluded with discussions on quality assurance and school improvement planning.
As we reflect on the successes of the Macao conference, we are excited to apply these learnings across the Maple Bear network to create even stronger educational outcomes for our students.
